Vauxhall Vectra (2002 - 2008)
signum 2.2dti elegance
problematic but comfy
it started as a good and reliable car but when it plays up it does it big time, dont expect any help from vauhall i found the mechanics cant tell what the faults cure is.
just to point out i served my time with vauxhall
if you change the brake pads you have to change the discs also, the handbrake fail fault happened to me and vauxhall didnt want to know. another fault is the crankshaft pulley is two steel pulleys bonded together with rubber, this WILL FAIL make sure you have breakdown for this as your waterpump wont circulate and then engine overheats, one fault vauxhall couldnt find the cure for is loss of vacumm they wanted to change valves and the turbo after checking it myself found the rubber conecting ends of small bore vac pipes split trimmed them fault gone and cruise control works again. suspension springs are too weak for this heavy shell and break frequently also suffers from brake sensor failing but short the wire out and dash light will go out.
ive found aftermarket parts last a lot longer than dealer parts and are a lot cheaper also non dealer garages are more likley to find and correct the faults than at the dealers another fault discovered was water drains in front bulkhead block easily and floods the front floorpan of the car blowing the heater motor speed controler which is situated behind the glovebox.
the car when working ok is a good long distace cruser but rear center seat will c****** any passenger who uses it so really only a four seater
