Toyota Auris (2013 - 2019)

A car that ticks all my boxes
This is my fourth Toyota and my third Hybrid, I previously owned two Prius, a Prius 2 and a prius3,both excellent vehicles particularly Prius 2. My wife liked the more conventional layout of the Auris so we bought the top one the Ecell. For me personally the way the Hybrid system works is just wonderful, silky smooth and quiet, and with unparalleled reliability, it has I understand the least stressed drive train of any vehicle on the road,( a direct quote from Honest John) The fuel consumption of Hybrids is often a source of controversy because they are not as good as a Diesel, this may be true, but for me a direct comparison of this nature is not important mainly because of the many other advantages Hybrids offer, they don't have a DPF or a DMF, no starter motor, or alternator not much of a clutch either I understand , so longevity is built in, and this is very important when you are retired, fuel consumption not that bad any way,on a 200 mile round trip to London and back it will regularly deliver 63 to the gallon, not so good overall in the winter middle 50s but I'm more than satisfied, I do use the best fuel though, Shell Vpower, and I do see very high figures at times, mid 70s even 80 plus occasionally. It's had a few problems, it needed two new shock obsorbers at about 3 months faulty parts fitted, but during the fitting the body was stressed on the ramp and cracked the windscreen, all done under warranty though with no problems. It recently had to have a new parking censer but once again no fuss at all. It's worth mentioning at this point the brilliant service my dealer provides, which I believe is quiet consistent with Toyota globally, they are Westland Toyota in Worcester, West Midlands I'm now waiting for the new Prius, I don't think I shall ever move away from the Hybrid system, it's driving dynamics suit me perfectly.
