Toyota Auris (2013 - 2019)
Active 1.4 D-4D 90 5dr Hatchback
Easy to drive, reliable and economic
I've had the car for 8 months now and it's done a total of 20,000 miles, 12,000 with me. Only major gripe is that it didn't have a spare, not even a spacesaver - fortunately I bought one (£105 pounds from local Arnold Clark dealership) - and had to use it after a month. Typical, I didn't have a puncture for 4 years and get one on Motorway 4 weeks after buying this Auris. Fuel economy at 58.5 mpg is about what I expected, about 3 mpg better than the older style diesel Auris I traded in, but nowhere near the 72 mpg Toyota advertise, where do they get that figure from? I've just recently retired so I'll be keeping this car as long as I can and hopefully it'll be as reliable as the previous two Toyotas I've owned. It's just what you'd expect from a Toyota, comfortable, spacious, reliable, so far - I don't like saying it's completely reliable until it's at least 4 year old with no faults! As I've got the base model it doesn't have sat nav, but this doesn't bother me, although I wish it had cruise control but this isn't an option on any of the small diesel Toyotas. One major disappointment is that the car needs serviced every 9,300 miles - not great for a new generation car and needless to say something the salesman didn't point out! All in all I'm satisfied with the car so far and confident I'll be saying the same in another 5 years
