Practical estate, robust interior , economical and tough.

Driven a minimum of 20,000 miles per year mainly on the motorway. Total mileage to date 126,000. Cam-belt changed 45,000 and 118,000 as per dealer recommendation. New flywheel and clutch needed at 55,000 mile service plus other bits; total service coast over £900.00. Rear suspension covers, plus brake pads needed at 70,000, miles as recommended by the dealer. Cooling system repaired at main dealer at 80,000 miles, cost £200 plus. Last service at 118,000 miles £600 plus, included cam-belt. Skoda dealer helpful and offered 10% discount on the repairs needed outside the routine maintenance. Always achieves over 54 miles per gallon. Dealer tells me that they have Octavias with up to 400,000 miles when regularly serviced, updated etc. Tyres last well, run on winter tyres (Dunlop) through the cold weather and have not got stuck, even in quite severe weather in Derbyshire. Radio poor, it is quite a noisy car; just about acceptable on the motorway at 70 mph. A basic, solidly built estate.
