Golf GTI in sensible clothes.

I purchased my Vrs new in May 2011 and chose the estate version in Metallic grey and added leather heated seats (easy to wipe clean).
As a family car it does a great job of transporting 2 adults, 3 children and a dog. It is very comfortable over long distances. Moans about stiff suspension on this model are a bit daft- you bought a Vrs/GTI so what did you expect? The ride is fine.
With no family or dog you can really through the car around and it puts a big smile on my face and reminds me of my mk2 Golf GTI 16v I had in the early 90's. It is a Q car.
I do 20k miles a year and my car goes in for free service number 2 next week. I have had no issues at all with the car. Still on original tyres, although fronts have 3mm so will change soon. Oil consumption over 20k has been minimal and I still have oil left in the top up bottle I purchased when I picked up the car. If you run it in properly then you don't use loads of oil.
Dealers- Supplying dealer in Maidstone fairly good. First service in Canterbury gave very poor customer service so I will not return.
My mileage is 80% motorway and over 20k I have averaged 36.5 MPG on Shell Vpower.
To sum up, this is a very good car and I look at it as a Golf GTI in an estate body. Fantastic.
