1.2 Puretech 82 Allure

Comfortable, economical, reliable - and with a spare wheel, although it is only a space-saver.

Only two things detract from this car.
First, in contrast to my previous car (2014 'Active' version of the 2008) the controls for the heating and ventilation are an absolute pain. Instead of being simple rotary controls, widely spaced and capable of being used without taking eyes of the road, they are stylishly small and smart - but cannot be used safely by the driver whilst in motion. This is a tragedy of style over function. Had I recognised this before purchase, I would have ignored the supposedly "better" Allure version in favour of another Active - a lower trim level.
Second - like so many contemporary cars - is the reliance on a touchscreen for many facilities. This feature intermittently has a sulk, and changes radio programs without any perceptible reason. It also occasionally decides to ignore the route through the menu system, and "do its own thing". The only recovery is to stop driving, switch off the ignition and wait for it to stop sulking - the longer the better. The only alternative is to ignore it for the rest of the journey.
These spoil an otherwise excellent family car.
