Does approximately what is says on the tin...!

The car was bought from a Honda dealer as a pre-reg with 9 miles on the clock. It was fitted with dual controls by the dealer for driving instruction. No technical problems whatsoever, the pupils loved it and being a Honda it does just what you tell it to do. Apart from driving tuition I took it on several trips to France and it would achieve the early 50's mpg on a long run. In September 09 I emigrated to France and during late 2010 at 26000 miles it developed a slipping clutch in 5th and 6th on full throttle acceleration. I had been a member of an owners forum civinfo and had heard that there had been clutch problems with the 2.2 diesel Civics which Honda UK had tried to avoid paying out on if possible. Took it to the nearest French dealer who replaced the entire clutch and DMF under warranty-no quibbling, just charged me €20 for gearbox oil. I inspected the clutch friction and pressure plate and there was no sign of any wear at all. The French dealer said that they had replaced about 10-12 clutches under warranty on lhd Civics-they are not that common in France.
Servicing is expensive at a Honda dealer, parts are not overly expensive but the dealer labour charge is horrendous.
