Ford Kuga (2013 - 2020)
2.0. 163 Titanium AWD 5dr SUV
A great all round car for my purpose
Bought this car to replace a Mk 1 Kuga and both cars were selected to tow our 4 berth Bailey caravan of 1.4t gross weight. Handled the tow perfectly using 6th gear for all but steepest main road and motorway hills. Standard cruise control helped in maintaining UK speed limits.
Driven solo I found the 2014 Kuga superior in terms of less road/wind noise and comfort. This time I stuck with the standard 17" wheels a great improvement.
Loads of power and the full IFRS provides a superb drive and the Ford AWD gives security in all conditions
Although I liked the split tailgate on the Mk 1 the power tailgate on the Mk2 has been a boon. Boot could be bigger but has a very low lip and with seats down offers a strong level floor.
Fuel consumption is typically far worse than quoted figures. but averages 38/39mpg mainly local driving with occasional motorway journey. Caravan towing was 29mpg.
Only issue was on first tow down M5 went into 'limp mode' which was new problem then and required a reset of the temperature limits for the turbo. After resolution never repeated.
Replaced all tyres at 26000 miles fronts just showing wear bars. Went for Avons, original equipment Hancooks.
I believe the Kuga in Titanium trim offers a very good specification and the only extras I required were; metallic paint, appearance pack, power tailgate, tow bar.
I rejected the VWTiguan and Honda CRV on spec for price and have not been disappointed.
