Overall reliability

Good to drive & pretty comfortable with adequate performance.

Has been almost faultless & has good economy even around town, currently averaging just over 40 mpg. It is very comfortable with pleasant ride characteristics. I am a little disappointed with the sound that the engine makes particularly when cold. It is my first diesel for some time & nowhere near as refined & pleasing on the ear as my Alfa 159 2.4L 5 cyl diesel that was sweet in comparison. I only chose the diesel engine because it came with the Powershift gearbox. Feedback regarding the auto box mated to the petrol engine was pretty awful, although a short test drive indicated nothing sinister ! Performance is brisk & once up to cruising speed it is quiet unless pushed hard.
Seats & interior are nicely designed & with good ergonomics. Folding down the rear seats is particularly easy needing only a single tug on one lever each side.
Controls are generally laid out well & operate perfectly. Instruments & dashboard are disappointing. Nav dsiplay is too small & too far from driver, although it is well protected from reflections. When using the map or nav. there is no radio or audio information on display which seems crazy in this day & age. Nav. is also not very intuitive & not a patch on my previous after market systems from Alpine. Audio performance is OK & DAB works quite nicely. Shame that controlling iPhone/Ipod is not so easier & getting track info displayed is beyond most people including me. Best feature is the power tailgate - every car should have one.
Only faults during 4,200 miles so far are: trip meter showing very low miles to empty reading. Fixed by dealer - new software ?
Drivers door rattle from interior - slowly driving me crazy - radio is slowly being turned up !!
My local dealer EAG seems anxious to please but is not always sure how to. They want feedback & seem to need re-assuring they are doing OK. However they do not direct their efforts in the best way. Software update took 3.5 hrs + which would have been alright if they had not said it would be done in maximum of 2 hrs.
