Dacia Duster (2018 on)
150Tce Techroad 4x2
Brilliant - effortless progress with a relatively comfortable and quiet cabin
Having driven a very early Duster in 2014, then owning a revised Duster in 2016, I can say that the new shape Duster (from 2018) has really grown up.
Dacia have listened to customer surveys and implemented most of the changes needed.
More soundproofing - Done
Change roof rack design for hardly any wind noise - Done
More comfy seats - Done
More upmarket version - Done
Moved the Medianav touch screen to a higher visible location - Done
Since owning a Duster in 2016, there seems to be quite a loyal following with these cars now.
The owners club has a few owners that are on their third and some on their fourth Duster now.
I suspect because of the engine types now available.
The Techroad edition has enough toys to keep me happy. Looks good with blacked out windows too.
I doubt the 130 bhp version will feel slow (I haven't driven that power output) but the 150 bhp just seems to climb hills effortlessly.
The engines have very diesel like pull from 1,600 rpm considering it's a 1.3L engine.
Some reviews complain about the car looking very 90's inside ( What would you expect - it's cheap), I can't help but think some reviewers seem to forget the price of the vehicle and compare it to other SUV cars.
But how can you compare it to other SUV cars at this price point. No other SUV exists at these prices.
If I try and compare a £17K Techroad to other cars, we have the bottom of the range Skoda Karoq or a Kamiq and you don't get the toys or as powerful an engine.
An MG ZS or A MG HS are possibly nearest on price but you are looking at a bottom of the range with a 1.0l engine !
