Dacia Jogger (2022 on)

1.6 HEV Extreme 5dr Auto 2024/2
Flatters to deceive
I had high hopes for this car when we purchased it back in July, we would be able to eventually go down from 2 cars to 1
My 4 year old C3 Aircross was the vehicle chosen to trade in and then my wife's Zafira would eventually go when its next MOT was due seeing as the Jogger gave us the modernity of the Aircross and the practicality of the Zafira and the Full Hybrid drive we were seeking.
Very soon after taking delivery we then hit upon the issues with the lane keeping assist which would identify dry lines on wet roads, painted over Roadwork lane marking and any other sort of lines on the carriageway and activate its lane assist making driving any distance annoying and at times dangerous. Eventually like every other Jogger driver we identified the handily placed button under the steering wheel that allowed us to turn it off, but this needs to be done on every trip.
With that issue resolved it is generally a good car to drive, visibility on roundabouts can be difficult at time due to a combination of seat position and the A pillar when looking to the right. It rides well on motorways it has always responded when needed although it can over rev loudly if you try to use a kickdown approach to acceleration , however the Braking assist probably saved us on one occasion from a wagon changing lanes with no notice.
Next practicality, the jogger offers the availability of 7 seats , or does it?
We normally run the car with the 2 rear seats folded forward, note they fold forward not flat into the floor as in the Zafira and with a mobility scooter folded to one side of the boot. However when we needed on one occasion to utilise the 6th seat in the boot we found it almost imossibe to use. The parcel shelf is a pull out sheet that runs from behind the centre seats to anchor points at the rear of the car.
It handily spring rolls back into its mounting bar when you release it however the bar is too wide to allow you to remove it and put it behind the rear seats and it is too long to fit between the back door and the centre seats so where do you stow it when you want to use the extra seats?
You probably end up doing as we do now and leave the parcel shelf in the garage, but that does mean that anything in the boot is visible to anybody who wants to look in.
If you don't need the 7 seats you would be better advised to opt for the Duster now that the hybrid version has arrived.
So come April we will be saying goodbye to our Jogger as a combination of us rapidly falling out of love with it and our local Dacia dealership closing we shall move on to pastures new.
