Two queries:

The above car runs at 80deg C which I thought was low, just wondering if this is normal for this car. I wasnt able to connect to live data on my Memoscan U585 generic code reader to check temps. Previously at last service I think I could access this live data!!!... Read more

I am still looking for a car for my son, he will be 25 in March so am taking the luxury of time to mooch about various dealers.

Have more or less narrowed it down to a Nissan Note; we like the build quality and spec and it ticks alot of the small car boxes (insurance & economy) whilst having enough room for his lawnmower and gardening tools for the occassional freelance pieces of work he gets in summer.... Read more

Aha!

They look good thanks but I am in the frozen wasteland of Yorkshire so trying to keep travel realistic. Did over 300 miles last weekend looking at cars and that was just local....

Is it me or is Parkers virtually unusable these days? Half the screen is taken up by adverts leaving you the other half to try and get the info you want.

You click to remove the advert but it comes back after a few seconds. It's almost like looking through a mail slot. Then you try and read some owners reviews, and not only do you have to contend with a half screen, but you have to click individually on each review to read more.... Read more

I use a combination of adblock plus, chrome, chrome settings to block pop ups and sometimes not show images/video with increaded zoom in and that gets rid of the stuff round the edges.

Try giving Ghostery a test drive ORB and see how many trackers are watching you at this very moment, it's 11 by the way, they won't be once you activate it.

Great looking little car, better than the VW Up and Seat Mii, but no TSi version of the 1.0 litre engine, as already features in the Up, so that is a huge disappointment.

I wish they'd create a VRs version with the 115ps turbo engine supposedly making its way into the long awaited Up GTi next year - but no doubt VW won't allow it. Oh well Mr VW, I won't be buying either then! Read more

I would love one of these, but they only have four seats which makes it impractical for me with three grandchildren to carry. It looks wider than many cars that have five seats so why only four VW? The Viva, i10 and Picanto all boast space for five so come on VW at least make one of the trio - up!, Eon and Citigo - a five seater. Surely it's possible.

I recently bought the Mio 688 and like the superb picture quality along with all the extra safety features mentioned in Honest John's very informative review.
This really is a useful gadget in my view and well worth getting the 688. Although I'm not sure if touch screen on the 658 is a good idea as it may be tempting to fiddle with when driving. In any case, there is a warning telling you not to fiddle with such devices when driving.
Unfortunately after a couple of days of use the device froze and would not switch off.
I wrote an email to Mitac and got a superfast response. And I must add how helpful their team is!
It turns out that the 32GB SD card I had installed was not a compatible Class 10 SD Card! These dash cams are not compatible with Ultra, Extreme or high speed SD cards. Mitac do recommend class 10 for the 600 series and the following brands : Adata, SD, Kingston, Transcend or Sandisk as long as they''re neither Extreme or Ultra!
I'm also not sure how well these devices will stand up to long exposure in hot sun or if it's wise to leave on view when the vehicle is unattended.

Despite the popularity of petrol engines increasing, it seems that some manufacturers still aren't offering their popular petrol versions in an Automatic. For example, Skoda don't offer the 1.4TSI DSG option on the Yeti, and the Peugeot 2008 SUV doesn't have the more powerful 1.2 130 EAT 6 option either, its only available on the bigger 3008 which is over budget. So for me, personally, it only really left the diesel options for these two models as a shortlist. Read more

I have a 'reduced engine performance' appearing intermittently. The error code shows it is a problem with the throttle position sensor. What does this do ? Is it something that needs attention asap ? What is likely to need doing ? Read more

Hi, do you know if a Volvo C30 1.6 Diesel 2010 has a throttle position sensor or just a accelerator position sensor? Can’t seem to find the answer anywhere.
Thanks

I was wondering if anyone had any input on this.

I have seen a Honda civic 2009 2.2 diesel for around 4k with 90k on the clock. I have also seen a ford focus with 2008 1.8 diesel for the same price with only 45k miles on the clock.... Read more

The Yamaha designed Zetec SE 1.6 in the bulk of Focus models is a very sweet and long lived engine if serviced properly, the old Ford Zetec 1.8 is quicker but rougher and drinks a bit more.

I have really liked the Zetec SE engine in the Fiestas I have driven plus in the Puma I owned for 6 years it was totally trouble free. But its not the most economical unit on the planet, my Puma used to average abiut 33 mpg and when fitted in the much bigger/heavier Focus the performance takes a big hit....

**** Before you try any expensive solutions to the surging, try unplugging the MAF sensor. Once unplugged the ECU takes a default setting. Often it can be the cause of surging, loss of power etc.
