Volvo XC60 (2008 - 2017)
2.0 D4 190hp SE Start+Stop 5dr
Unreliable
Bought the car at 3 years old with 65,000 miles on the clock. In the 2 years we've had it there've been 3 recalls by Volvo for what seem to be serious faults, with a day in the workshop every time. In addition, despite always being serviced by Volvo, the clutch went at 72,000 miles, cost £1,500, and altogether we've spent over £2,000 pounds on repairs. Also the silvering on the gear knob peels off, a pretty common fault with this model, apparently, and just so poor on a vehicle which, 5 years ago, cost well over £30,000 new.
The much trumpeted safety features don't take into account the handbrake, which is a button at the bottom of the dash by your right knee that you have to lean forwards to use and as it's directly under the button that opens the tailgate it's easy to press the wrong one. Another dangerous feature is the size of the writing on the infotainment display screen, the time is displayed in the top left hand corner, furthest away from the driver, and is so small it's impossible to see without leaning over to look at it.
Really disappointed and would never buy Volvo again.
