Subaru Outback (2014 - 2021)
2.5i SE Premium
I will be keeping it for as long as possible.
Not sure why my last review is showing a date of January 2019. I did that in September 2018. Anyway, I have now had the car for a year and 12,000 miles and have not changed my opinion. This is a good car and, so far at least, the dealers have inspired confidence. In buying and maintaining the car I have encountered three different Subaru dealers. All three have given me the impression that they are Subaru enthusiasts, not just dealers. The car itself has been great. Reliable and, for a 2.5 petrol doing mainly local, short runs, OK from an mpg viewpoint as far as I am concerned. I have now averaged just about 32mpg for the year, with the mileage including three long round trips and occasional short runs pulling an occupied horse trailer. That is some way better than my diesel Land Rovers and a big Jeep managed, with petrol now cheaper. All passengers have liked it, including those on long trips, and I still look forward to getting into it every day. It sailed through its first MoT and I didn't find the price of the fourth year (big) service untoward. All that said, having just had that big service, I am having to take it back in because there is a problem with the Subaru-fit front parking sensors (out of warranty now) and a mystery two-off noise from the boot lid. Obviously neither has prevented use of the car and If either become significant I will report back but otherwise the car is everything I hoped it would be. I still don't see anything else I would rather have.
