Really rather good, and extremely practical.

So, a bit of a wired one this. The car was bought to replace a Toyota GT86 that had proven to be a fantastic car, even in the winter. We wanted something with AWD as we live in the Scottish Highlands, but we wanted something a little less mainstream, enter centre stage, the WRX STi.
We had actually gone in to look at a second hand Levorg, but I did not like it, but the SYi was just coming of the transporter, and it called us over with its agressive looks.

Anyway, some 7 years later, and almost 90,000 trouble free miles (2 x rear wheel bearings and normal servicing) later, and numerous holidays away down south, hundreds of r****** tip runs, B&Q rums for decking, and even moving 3 tons of gravel over a week, she is still going strong!

MPG is around 32 over the 7 years, and whilst not a comfortable car on Scottish mountain roads thanks to its stiff suspension, it is a joy to drive. So much so that my mother-in-law, aged 70, sometimes borrows it!

In winter, the only issue we have ever had is that the ground clearance can me scooping up snow when it has formed a ridge down the middle of the road. With a set of winter wheels, it is actually a really capable winter car and has definitely gone where others cannot. It is rather amusing driving up the local hill (mountain really) and passing stuck Range Rovers.

Would we buy another? if they were still available in the UK, absolutely.

We also have an Outback (third) and the STi definitely is the car to take for fun, but it is slightly retired from the r****** tip runs these days, and we hope to give it a full valet and paint correction to get it looking sparkling again. The black Mica paint does tend to dull after a good few winters.
