Rugged, reliable & fun to drive in tough conditions

This is my second Forester and I can honestly say that I find it hard to think that I will ever buy anything else in future. The car does all of the mundane things well - shopping, tootling around town and picking people up, but get into the country onto undulating, windy roads with a bit of standing water and mud for good measure and it's 4 x 4 credentials become evident. It is a very capable and reliable workhorse and will suit anyone with a spirit of adventure. It is not the cheapest of vehicles to service and maintain, but by the same token it compares well will less capable SUVs. I have had many 4 x 4s over the years, but for me the Forester is pitched just where I want to be - rugged & capable, but with acceptable levels of comfort and a sensible level of safety features included. Parts are expensive, but having said that it's level of reliability means that you rarely need them.
