Exceeding Already HIgh Expectations

Having owned a number of Hyundais I was already well aware of their reliabilty, improving dynamics and value for money (and "premium aspirations") with decent dealers. I have also recently owned a high spec Audi and whilst it was probably the best cabin I have been in there, were numerous mechanical issues - including a new multronic auto gearbox (under warranty ), electric hood motors, ignition coils etc etc.

The ix35 is simply stunning value for money (purchased pre registered as I usually do) and the amount of useful standard kit is probably £10K worth of options for other makes. (Not to mention the robust 5 year warranty).

This is my first diesel and whilst the mpg is not near the "official" figures I am impressed with the torque and flexibilty of the engine. Looking on the ix35 forum the number of issues occuring seems to be low (except official/actual MPG) and I note DPF filters do not seem to be an issue for the ix35. There have been fuel filter blocking issues though some of these may have a root cause of poor quality diesel rather than the car itself.

I note there have been comments about steering weight in the Honest John reviews and I think Hyundai may have reacted to these - mine has a definite self centering and weights-up nicely at motorway speeds and yet is light and positive around town. The manual gearbox is slick and precise (have not experienced any issues during the recent cold weather).

Finaly the reversing camera and sensors make parking a safe and simple operation.

Brilliant car, very enjoyable to drive and own.
