Extremely reliable, comfortable and economical.
I've had my i40 for 10 years from new, only needed repairs in the last year [ both rear brake calipers].
for the first three years I did 10k miles per year but that's tailed off to 3k pa now. A pleasure to drive, on
motorways and round town, doesn't respond to being in the wrong gear but that's easily avoided,
just anticipate the road ahead. Sat' nav' is not the best and you need the dealer to update, good
display but not the best mapping. No DAB but radio and CD or memory stick available with good audio quality. Lots of features, most useful, some not. Fully electrically adjusted drivers seat, About 35 mpg
round town [ heavy local traffic most times] but upper 50s mpg on a run, fuel consumption is
displayed in real time. Insurance is very economical although as I'm now eighty it's rising.Service is every two years for main service, for most of my cars life I 've had an intermediate service which is not
expensive. Main dealer serviced for first 7 years but local garage of late [ a bit cheaper but still a good
service]. Changed the battery at 8 yrs, was still OK but the stop/start disabled, new battery cured that.
Easy to change yourself. I would definately recommend a second hand i40 provided it's been treated right. Body finish is excellent, alloy wheels look a little sad, but they are 10 yrs old.
