Hyundai i10 (2008 - 2014)
1.2 Classic 5dr Hatchback
It's good but not quite right for us
We had this car from new (45 miles on the clock) on a lease car scheme operated by my employers, it now has 19,800 miles on the clock after nearly 3 years.
I did a fair amount of research before hand including here at HJ and found that this one one of the few cars in it's class to have space for 3 in the back seat. Combine this with the 5 year warranty and 'hassle free' all in servicing that the lease offered and we were sold.
I have to say on the whole it's quite a nice vehicle but it's let down by a few little niggles.
It's fairly comfy if a little harsh on the suspension and is supposed to be quite good on fuel but I've not really experienced that as it seems to eat through fuel although this is maybe just the impression it gives with having such a small fuel tank.
Problems.
Clutch check at first service as car was juddering when setting off almost like it had oil on the clutch plate (was told was sorted but was exactly the same) so;
Clutch assembly replaced under warranty - During this procedure the dealer managed to loosen the gear lever knob so it now rotates slightly as you move it.
Car still judders when setting off and I've given up.
Throttle seems to 'stick' at the idle position until you press just a little bit harder and then it jumps up the revs, again this was cured temporarily by the dealer but has now returned.
Has a very intermittent problem whereby you'll go to start it, it turns over but just point blank refuses to start (and will not start again until left for about 15 minutes) - reported to dealer who 'put it on the computer' and announced that everything was ok. Only re-occurred once after this and only 3 times 3 years.
Drivers seat had sharp piece of the seat frame come through the seat cover and cut a hole through the bolster on the side of the seat back - due to be replaced under warranty next week.
Requires new Discs and Pads after only 19,800 miles!! .. and no, before you ask, I don't drive it like it's been stolen.
To be fair, on the whole this car has been good to us. It's nice to drive + reasonably reliable and Hyundai's warranty is hard to beat..... It's just I'd really rather not have anything go wrong :-(
