BMW X1 (2015 - 2022)
2.0D XDrive
Balanced good looks, good performance and handling, sturdy, and surprsingly spacious.
This was a serious outlay for my wife and I, but we did our research, and it has paid off. We live on an isolated farm, and needed a car with good ground clearance and 4wd. Hill descent control is part of the standard spec on this model, and although rarely needed, has paid off for descents in icy conditions. The cabin is well laid out, and exudes quality. Comfortable driving position, and roomy enough for 4 passengers when needed.
So far, we have had no faults on this car, and enjoy driving it, especially on longer journeys. We do acknowledge comments from other reviewers that on some uneven tarmac surfaces, there is a feeling that the car is 'hopping' if it gets caught in a rut. Economy wise we are getting mid-40's mpg on this manual version.
