How practical it is

Good handling practical family car

Was principally after an Xdrive, diesel and a choice between Xline and M-Sport over SE and sport due to the specs. Initially favoured M-Sport due to the sport seats, managed to find an Xline with leather sports seats option these are pretty comfortable. Think the Xline looks a bit more like it’s bigger siblings than the Msports, which looks a bit more like the previous X1. Not sure the Leds headlights are better than HID xenons, so not sure why they’ve changed both much better than halogens though and cant believed these are still standard eqpt. Engine is willing and pretty quiet if driving with a stereo on, can hear it in normal use. I would say the 18d is quick enough for most.

Handles really well, had rwd BMW’s and rwd sports cars before and this has greater confidence in low grip conditions, greasy B-roads. Moved from a fwd SUV which was bigger, but not sure there was any more space than the X1. Drive a 19 MY M-Sport on 19” run flats and that got very loud on a section of dual carriageway. I think if you want better handling to look at the dynamic dampers rather than M-Sport suspension. My other car is very hard riding and the M-Sport felt a lot like that, not really in keeping with a family sized SUV.

X1 has most of the practicality of the X3 (X3 doesn’t seem any bigger internally) but I think the X3 probably rides rough roads more competently, and is a bit more luxurious.

IDrive system is the best infotainment system on a car atm in my opinion.
