  • Kia Sportage - Halfords Issue 8 Feb 2024 (Forum)
Hi all, Looking for a bit of advise regarding an issue I've had which I have been lead to believe may be a result of Halfords Auto centres mistake. I have diesel car with a mechanical high pressure fuel pump and no on tank pump, which had a fuel filter replacement last year
  • Hyundai i20 2010 - Noise from top of engine 23 Dec 2023 (Forum)
push gently down on the accelerator it either stops or starts and then seems to change pitch and then sometimes just disappear altogether. The mobile mechanic who popped over today said they'd not heard the noise before, but thought it was coming from the spark plug leads and that changing
  • ? Dunno - C-Channel Chassis Frame Design? 31 Dec 2022 (Forum)
, and a bit of poking around confirms that the frames rot out extensively from the inside. You can buy a new galvanised frame for Series III, but of course it aint cheap. Which leads to the question: What relatively recent non-lorry vehicles, if  any, use the relatively corrosion-proof C-channel
  • Vauxhall astra 1.9 - Astra electric issues 24 Oct 2021 (Forum)
but there is no ignition to activate the starter motor. Where would I find the main earth straps to check they are ok? I connected a lead from engine block to chassis but nothing, I also found wiring a multimeter to chassis and to positive terminal on battery gave 12v should the chassis return 12v?? Earth
  • BMW 120D XDrive 2013 - Both rear brakes sticking? 5 Oct 2021 (Forum)
. I've noticed a few times when setting off that it feels like the hill assist was holding for too long, but I'm starting to question now if this was possibly the brakes sticking.  No harsh braking leading up to them sticking tonight, did notice that it didn't have the same pull as usual, but didn't
  • Ford Transit - Inspection for V778 for old van before scrapping? 2 Sep 2021 (Forum)
prior to getting a V778, and if so, what are they inspecting for? - Given I only want to scrap the van, it seems odd to me that it might need an inspection to check road-worthiness if I intend to scrap the van.  2) Is there a chance that the inspection could lead to a refusal to issue a V778
  • Toyota Avensis Tourer - Erratic revving 1 May 2021 (Forum)
is not impressed and saying that over revving can lead to unwanted acceleration which I think is a good point. The car was always serviced by main dealer but the dealer was moved away during lockdown and now is so far I am considering using a local garage, will that be a wise move with such issue as above?
  • Volvo V70 D5 2005/6 - cigarette lighter front and arm rest 23 Mar 2021 (Forum)
I have  a Volvo V70 and for no apparent reason the front and arm rest cigarette lighter sockets have stopped working. There is a Dash Cam plugged in and a spare lead for the sat Nav when required. The Boot one works fine as it is a live feed all the time. This I know because the cool box
  • Audi A3 Sportback - MissFire 27 Aug 2020 (Forum)
that this model is Notorious for burning oil but doesn’t have a PCV valve. I have put a new ignition coil in, all new spark plugs and leads, I’ve cleaned out the throttle body. I’ve but a new fuel filter in and when I listen to the injectors at idle they all fire consistently sound good to me. About 6 months ago
  • Ford C-MAX - Ford Cmax wobble under acceleration 24 Oct 2019 (Forum)
along nicely.  This leads me to think it's something drivetrain related..?   So far we've tried the following through two different garages who have not been able to solve the problem: 4x wheels balanced 4x wheels aligned / tracked 4x new tyres Wheels
  • Ford fiesta - Juddering problem 13 Apr 2018 (Forum)
the computer again. The engine warning light has now gone and not come back but the juddering has. The car starts fine which it did not with warning light on unless i gave it some gas for about a min else it would cut out. I spent £140 on it so far , and totally lost where to go next. Would new leads
  • Honda Jazz - Cracked tyres 6 Feb 2018 (Forum)
. The reason for this, apparently is that with the car having done so little mileage over its four and a half years of life, and having spent a lot of time standing still,  the rubber has lost its suppleness and flexibility through lack of use, leading to brittleness and cracking. Not something I'd heard
  • None - Traffic Taliban 4 Feb 2018 (Forum)

  • Ford CMax 1.0 Ecoboost 2013 reg - overheating and engine replacement = lemon? 1 Nov 2017 (Forum)
We bought the above car used in 2015, not knowing that the degas hoses were inadequate. (Ford recalled the Focus cars with the same parts, but not the CMAX models despite them being essentially the same!). Our degas hose failed this August, leading to the engine 'fully overheating, the cylinder

  • Diesel to Petrol 27 Jul 2017 (Forum)
falling out of favour and ever increasing complicated engines have lead to think petrol is the (immediate) future.  It has lots of toys to keep me happy. It is white, though. The only 'free' colour was bronze metallic. In my view, that belongs on an Austin Maxi. White was £250 whereas
  • Ford Focus - Ford Focus TDDi cut out and won't re start 19 Jul 2017 (Forum)
in the system (maybe the sudden overtake movement moved fuel and air about) and that i should just change filters and bleed or if it's likely the dreaded high pressure fuel pump has failed? i only ask as there were no symptoms leading upto this failure and maybe somenone has had the exact same thing happen
  • Citroen C3 - How to 'soften' a low-profile ride! 12 Jan 2017 (Forum)
the indicated speed within the required range ( currently reading the same few % high). I'm thinking that the slightly increased width  - and height - of the tyres will lead to two benefits; (1) the side walls won't be as 'vertical' as they currently are (on 7" rims) so will be more 'cushioney', and (2) my
