Ford Focus (1998 - 2004) - 52 reg 1.6 petrol Headlight bulb blown - again! 16 Feb 2008 (Forum)
Well, my old Mondy has covered 145,000 miles and I've only ever replaced one headlamp bulb but SWMBO's Focus (54k miles) seems to have developed a habit of blowing one or the other headlamp bulb every 5 or 6 months. This time, it's the battery side again - and that's a real pain! I wonder -

I have a 1997 SAAB 900se. Disconnected the battery so the radio cleared. Now when I put in the radio code from the book, the radio freezes. The numbers stay in the display but it doesn't play, and I can't turn it off (unless I turn off the car). It does nothing else. Any suggestions to help -

Hi All, I recently bought a 1994 Pug 205 1.8 diesel Mardi Gras which only came with one key and no remote key fob. Unfortunately I managed to run the battery flat today and an immobiliser has kicked in and I cannot start the car (I did not know it even had an immobiliser!) Is there anyway -
'02 Focus Zetec 1.8tdci - Immobiliser 6 Aug 2007 (Forum)
My 2002 Ford Focus Zetec 1.8tdci decided not to start last night. When going to start the motor, after waiting for all the usual lights to go out, the car did not start . . . it seemed to want to but didn't - just a slight noise. After thinking it was the battery, I tried to jump start -
Skoda remote keyfob fault 19 Feb 2007 (Forum)
The remote locking fob for my V6 TDi Superb stopped working suddenly after 3.5 years and 36,000 miles. The original, spare one works fine. I purchased a new battery, put it in the fob and it didn't work. The handbook says it might need re-synchronising, so I followed the procedure in the book -
SAAb 9-5 alarm woes 19 Jan 2007 (Forum)
The alarm on my 1999 9-5 estate keeps going off. However, it does not trigger the indicator lights as you would normally expect. Furthermore, I cannot disable the sound, and have to let it run its course - often I choose to disconnect the battery for a while - which I do in the hope of re-booting -
HT Lead - M Reg Ford Fiesta 14 Dec 2006 (Forum)
I have an M reg Fiesta that has recently broken down on the motorway. The RAC came out to fix it and said my alternator needed replacing which has been done. The car still won't start, on another call out to the RAC they say it is the lead that connects the alternator to the battery -
Toyota Service Lights 16 Nov 2006 (Forum)
Had the water pump & timing belt changed on my picnic last week (97, 2.0 petrol). Battery off for a while, now I have what the handbook describes as service lights on the dash. Had the service done approx 3k ago, so should not need doing.... The lights are the oil level & handbrake light -
Honda Civic SE 1998 - electrical probs 9 Nov 2006 (Forum)
I have a low mileage 1998 Civic, which after flattening its battery, and having it recharged, and refitted, will not do anything. Even the drivers door window will not close now. As far as I can tell, the only thing working, are the 4 way flashers. I tried the central locking, but now have to use -
mondeo lights 6 Nov 2006 (Forum)
at the back of the bulbs. A couple of wires go to the housing. It is the near side of the car so access is terrible due to the position of the Battery and Fuses. Any idea what this is, or the clicking sound. It seems to go all the time the lights are on. It carried on with the new bulb. Is it serious. I have -
Starting Autos in N or P - which is best 8 Aug 2006 (Forum)
on and stationary........ In a manual I always dip the clutch in neutral, so not spinning the gearbox when starting to save motor/battery. In autos so far I have always started them in park, to no ill effect so far. Never yet stalled one, so never had to start on the go in neutral. -
Renault key card repair 18 Jul 2006 (Forum)
there are quite a few links between the two halves that have to be separated. It was slow & careful work but if you were going to throw it away, anyway, it's worth the risk. The tip is to think of all the electronics, including battery slot, to be in the lower half of the key, ie NOT the half with the switch -

Are ECU logged faults 'timestamped'? 16 Feb 2006 (Forum)
evidence'. Does anyone know if faults detected by ECUs are 'timestamped' in any way? Obviously time/date would require a battery-backed system, so maybe that's out - but recording mileage (electronic odometer) would be pretty easy. The car is a 2000MY Volvo S80. Cheers. -
Peugeot 406 rain sensors wipers 15 Nov 2005 (Forum)
are there on the windscreen, and aren't obscured / dirty. My previous 406 used to work fine (very effectively) I wonder whether all of these fancy electronic systems ( including the climate control) are separate units or are all controlled by a systems CPU, in which case, disconnecting the battery might re-set everything?
