    before engaging gear, the clunk then occured, I will try this again this weekend. would I be justified in suspecting the gearbox, or Heaven forbid,the dreaded "Dual Mass" flywheel (if this car has one) Any ideas out there, before I tackle Mr Toyota next week, grateful for any comments. tidzertornado

    had it today. He got into the ECU but no faults came up. He tried replacing the injectors but no difference. He says he'd be very surprised if it was the air flow meter. I got the clutch replaced on Nov 07 and he wonders does the Dual Mass Flywheel needs replacing too? Ouch expensive! Ring any bells

    blanked the thing off. Inlet manifold is also cleaned and fitted new gaskets when replacing. Intercooler is clear and no splits. Dual mass flywheel replaced including new clutch etc. New set of injectors and recode including a software update. New exhaust system including cat. No fault codes

    somewhere? but when i left the car into the VW dealer for a check they said its nothing to worry about and has something to do with the DMF (dual mass flywheel) In other words VW dealer says this is a normal type sound on a Golf GTI 2.0 FSI turbo!     the underside of the engine once or twice, and now on closer inspection it appears to be all the time at idle, it just depends on whether you're next to a wall etc as to whether you can hear it. If you get down on the floor, you  can easily hear it. Essentially, sounds like the dual mass flywheel

    of burning rubber. I took back to the garage who replaced and fitted a new crackshaft pulley and v belt. The car has always had the warm-start issue which upon looking at forums like this could be isolated to either a PCM update and injector calibration, or dual mass flywheel (hopefully not!)

    dual mass flywheel, clutch, pressure plate, clutch release bearing. LUK full Repset clutch kit. The clutch is a Self Adjusting Clutch so have installed with the correct tool. Replaced all these components. Started car. Everything was fine. Could engage gears no problem. Clutch felt fine
