Great car, some niggles

It's comfy, rides well even on 17" wheels and is spacious for passengers. Tyre noise is fine on decently surfaced roads and there no noticeable wind noise at motorway speeds. Interior 'leather' isn't real leather from a cow, but is comfortable enough, if firm.

Steering is light and easy, possibly a bit lifeless. Little body roll through corners.

1.4T 150 engine initially felt a bit slow compared to previous Fiesta 1.0T 125, but it just needs revving slightly harder for the turbo oomph to be felt, then its plenty quick enough. 6 speed manual box shifts nicely.

From new I found the economy significantly worse than expected, however after a couple of thousand miles it seems to have improved. Motorway journeys will return low 50s, around town low 30s.

Entertainment system and touchscreen all good. Bluetooth sync reliable. Nav isn't the nicest I've seen but doesn't get used thanks to Android auto.

Annoyances are: no handbrake, horrible little button electronic parking brake means that you're entirely reliant upon the hill-hold feature for hill starts. Yuck. No spare wheel, but also no wheel well to hold one even if you buy aftermarket, grrrrr. Boot is pretty small and rear parking sensors are only an option, surely should be standard on top spec? Oddment storage up front is a bit spa***.

Will probably try a Focus instead in future, but the Astra is a decent if unexciting car.
