Overall reliability

Relaxing, economical, nippy, the car in front is a Prius (and VW / Audi TDI owners hate that).........

I've now covered 23k trouble free miles in my new gen Prius:
The good:
Fuel consumption best: 77.1mpg on 80 mile trip driving consistently between 50 - 65 mph, worst 49.1mpg driving consistently over 85mph for 200 miles. CVT gearbox very smooth and gives instant response (far better than the turbo lag of a diesel). Car continues to surprise other drivers who seem automatically to think it will be slow! Driving position comfortable, passenger space excellent, boot space reasonable. Road holding good, climate control excellent. Classed as a normal petrol car for business mileage = more £ in back pocket!
The bad:
Don't believe what Toyota quote in terms of fuel range - hybrid system needs approx 10ltrs to work so the most you'll fit in when you fill is around 36-37ltrs which gives a range of around 470 miles (I average 60 - 65mpg generally per tank). Dashboard rattles a little on poorly surfaced roads, ride quality not as good as expected (my car has the 15" wheels too), and finally feeling that I need to justify my purchase to all my car mad friends.......!!
