Overall reliability

Dissapointing given I also own a Gen 2 Prius.

This is my second Prius, having driven 30000 miles with no problems I thought I'd upgrade. I bought the Gen 3 because I love the way it looks and I'm a bit of a gadget lover. This model is definitely not as nice to drive as the last one though. The seats have been reduced in size by 35mm which makes a lot of difference on comfort. The dashboard vibrates and the cheap plastics creak and pull down the whole feel of the car. It's not as smooth to drive as the Gen 2 but it has only done 25000 miles and my other one has done 120000 miles so maybe it will get better as time goes on. As for economy I can't get anywhere near the claimed 72mpg and I'd like to think that I'm a bit of an expert at extracting every 0.1 mpg it's possible to get out of one of these cars. My current mpg is 52.5 so way below what's claimed. The navigation system lacks the usability of my Garmin and is not very intuitive to use. I've yet to master the parking assist which doesn't inspire much confidence in its use. So to sum up it looks great but if it had been my first Prius I might not have purchased another.
