Suzuki Swift (2010 - 2017)
1.2 SZ2 3dr Hatchback
Fun small car
Our first family Suzuki, purchased for my son to learn to drive in. It's surprisingly spacious, my son is over 6' and has no problem getting comfortable, in fact the car fits 4 real size adults with no problem. The boot is sufficient for a weeks shopping, but that is fine, we would rather have passenger space than boot space in this car. The 1.2 engine is powerful enough but needs a few revs to get the best out of it.
We love the interior which is simple and completely logical, you don't need a 200 page manual to operate the wipers or change the radio station. Fuel consumption has been impressive at over 50mpg - very respectable allowing for being used by a learner driver on relatively short trips and in town.
We wanted a simple basic car but this has proven very popular with all members of the family due to being such a pleasant car to drive. Light accurate steering and a slick gearbox help as does the light clutch.
Niggles? The boot lip is quite high - but not a problem for us. Road noise can be intrusive on some surfaces. The seats do not return to the same position when carrying a rear passenger. And that's it really. Note that being a 3 door it is a 4 seater with only 2 rear seat belts, if you need a 5 seater, buy the 5 door.
In summary we have been pleasantly surprised by this car and would recommend it.
