Overall reliability

A great all-rounder with a sense of fun.

I bought this car new as the result of a great trade-in price at the main dealer - surprising and welcome ! Seven months on and I have to say the little Swift has lived up to my expectations and more.
The ride is good considering the low profile tyres (Continentals are noisy on poor surfaces). Performance is more than adequate when you need it (it's not a HOT hatch, more luke warm), while economy is very close to official figures overall. Comfort is very good (I've been to Doncaster & back - 900 mile round trip) and it has all the toys you could reasonably expect. What impresses me the most is the handling. It holds the road very well, feels solid without being 'heavy' and as a result back roads can be enjoyed - rather than endured. In fact it's the first car in years I've felt no inclination to change the suspension on ! Previous motors have had spring/damper changes just to suppress too much body lean in the corners.
Yes the boot is small compared to say a Corsa, but I knew this beforehand and it'll still take an average week's shopping for two.
It looks good too, even with 5 doors. This was a conscious decision over 3 doors because it doesn't have a split-fold rear seat. Not important to some, but with a dog and other loads it comes in handy. Plus the doors open quite wide, very practical for a sporty model.
So overall, I'm very pleased with the Swift Sport so far and see no reason why this shouldn't continue.
The only negative I can mention is probably down to bad luck, with the second windscreen now cracked as well. Is this a design downside ? The windscreen rake is quite upright (like an air-cooled 911) and I think it's more prone to flying stones chipping it as a result.
