Skoda Octavia Estate (2013 - 2020)
Elegance 2.0 TDI CR 5dr Estate
Good car ruined by half finished engineering. Avoid until Skoda finish developing it...
Good bits: comfy seats, goes well, averages same MPG as the Prius it replaced. Great steering, gear change. Feels much smaller than it is on the road.
Bad bits: the standard fit collision avoidance system is dangerous. Has twice automatically applied emergency braking when there has been nothing in front of the car, once there was nothing else on the road. Skoda dealers useless with it, no fault code so nothing ever done. It also gives off collision warnings for no reason.
Awful engine vibration through the steering wheel. Becomes very tiresome over long distances. Again Skoda not interested, they claim it is a characteristic.
The radio has icons for stations, but they have to be downloaded from an internet site, unzipped, transferred to an SD card, and then uploaded to the infotainment system. Skoda dealer doesn't even know the web address. I would have thought this would be a part of the PDI. It's absurd.
The slope of the hatch looks great, but removes a lot of practicality, stops a child's bike being stood upright.
