Overall reliability

Economical, powerful, reliable and extremely comfortable.

This was to be my first diesel so I plumped for the 320 cdi avantgarde from a main dealer, with 14,000 miles on the clock. Have had the car for more than 6 years, adding close to 60,000 miles. This is my 4th E Class, the others being the W210 model and all petrol, but this easily surpasses them. Fantastically powerful, yet economical (I can see 48 - 50 mpg on a run), it is an absolute joy to travel in. Only once has it let me down (a flat battery) - since then only consumables have been replaced plus a couple of suspension joints (a known weak spot) and a gear selector seal.

Even though an early model of the W211 series, I have experienced none of the electronic glitches these cars seem to be notorious for. Everything works, the interior and exterior are as new and people often don't believe that the car is almost 10 years old. A much better looking design than the the W212 in my view. Find a good one and you will be delighted.
