Lovely car, but the reversing camera problem is a major fault.

There are loads of complaints on MB forums right across the world regarding the very noisy continuous deployment and retraction of the reversing camera on this and some other MB models, this happens even when driving forwards. Initially everyone thinks it is something rolling around in the boot, but then realise that it is the camera clanking away.

Mercedes Benz flatly refuses to do anything about what is obviously a software fault, they say "it is a characteristic of the car"

One of their suggestions is that the camera will finish its calibration if you drive the car in a straight line at less than 18MPH for about one minute and at the same time avoid moving the steering wheel more than 10 degrees in either direction, please note this will not work at night. Once you stop and restart the car you have to go through the whole procedure again.
Ludicrous as it may seem, this is the official advice from Mercedes customer service.
