Mercedes-Benz CLS (2005 - 2011)
320 CDI Auto Coupe
The best car I've ever owned - by miles
I love this car. I've never kept any car for three years before, let alone even longer. I bought it used from a main dealer with 38k on it for £14,500 which seemed cheap compared to the newer model. I've now done 75k more miles in it at an average of 40.1mpg with mainly longer distance and motorway driving.
In standard form, it maybe isn't quite powerful enough, but it is so relaxing and comfortable to drive it's very hard to replace. Never used any oil, every tank lasts around 550-700 miles depending on how brave I am and on a drive to Andorra and back last year it averaged 46.5mpg at a quick steady pace.
Sound system is great as standard, but the SD cards can't be bigger than 2gb
SatNav is okay, but I gave up on it a few years ago and switched to Google Maps as it's more up to date.
I have tried the newer shape and for the massive extra money, it just doesn't seem worth getting rid of this one, even with 113k on the clock.
If I had one criticism it's that the boot is massive but useless. You can get lots in it, but the access is so narrow that you can't carry a chair, a reasonable sized box or anything over around 18" square as it just won't fit in. Folding seats aren't even on the options list, so this doesn't help either.
But saying that, I LOVE it.
