Honda Civic (2006 - 2011)
2.2i CTDi EX 5dr
Immortal
Bought this model for my wife as a new driver. Didn't know anything about it. She just liked the model and because I wanted a Diesel for her 2.2L was the only option. Bought it at <118000 miles and it now has more than 234000.
The car turned out to be excellent. She changed to a Nissan Juke about 2 years ago and I kept the Civic for myself. It now has 7+ years in our family and I know it sound like a cliché but it has never let me down. In fact, I have told to myself that this car is going to die in my hands. Our family is getting bigger and we might need to change to an SUV but the problem is... the car is not dying.
Easy and cheap to maintain. Also, you can find parts for this model everywhere, whether ypu want them new or used. Other than the fuel filter which is a bit difficult to get to, everything is super easy to change. I guess Honda is well know for how they build the parts together. You definetly don't have to be a trained mechanic to do the service when the time comes.
And yes, everytime my wife wants me to bring some fridge or table or whatever it is from somewhere it reminds myself of the "one more reason" I've not sold it yet. The way the back seats ar folding it give you so much room that you literally could fit there anything that can be found in a house. If you don't have a problem driving with the trunk open we can even change the way we talk about the size of what you can fit in.
I trust the car to drive it anywhere not only in the UK but Europe too.
