BMW 3 Series GT (2013 - 2020)
320d Sport 184 Auto 5dr Hatchback
Great all-rounder
Purely subjective, but i think it looks a more sleek and coherent design than the regular saloon and tourer, but that could just be its relative rarity. Although it is slightly longer, wider and taller than the regular 3's, it feels very similar to drive, which is no bad thing. Ride comfort is probably a little better, body control probably slightly worse. It's fairly quick, very economical (55 mixed), and refined on the motorway.
It doesn't look like a practical car with it's frameless windows, swooping tail and electric spoiler, but it is. The rear seat space is truly vast and the boot is deep and square. This is for transporting 4 or 5 tall adults and their luggage in comfort - a rarity. Best of all, it's a proper hatch, so the dog can come too.
So it's a great compromise - approaching the style of a 5-door A5, but with more room than a 3 series tourer.
