BMW 1 Series (2011 - 2019)
118d Urban 143 5dr
Solid car with substance
Covered 70k miles. Engine never missed a beat. In the end I sold it due to the lack of DAB and other ‘extras’ on my 2012 model. Was surprisingly good value when I bought mine and compared to its rivals the 1 Series still is. The diesels are fast, economical and fairly smooth. For those tempted by the badge, this is not a city car - the steering is fairly weighty and rear wheel drive is more suited to the open road. This is a car with a bit of substance - more so than a Golf or A3. It’s pretty practical with a good loading bay and flat floor when you fold the back seats down. The fit and finish inside is classy too. Not a ton of room on the back seats though. I would definitely recommend but make sure you choose one spec’d for your tastes.
