1992 Clio 1.4 auto - no heat 31 Mar 2007 (Forum)
We have a K-reg 1.4 Clio RT automatic at work as a general runabout, with about 70k on the clock. Since we've had it, the heaters have never blown out warm air, only cold. The temperature gauge rises as it should when the engine warms up but no heat comes out the vents. Any ideas, and if so -
306 mad door locks 30 Jul 2006 (Forum)
i have read recent threads on this subject but.......im just wondering what may be the most obvious causes of this problem? I lock the doors via the key lock (remote doesnt work) they automatically pop up. I thought it may be the 'dodgey' door loom as ive had problems with electric windows -
Stiff tiptronic box on Passat 18 May 2006 (Forum)
I have my first automatic car: Passat PD130 Highline tiptronic 2004. The box works ok whilst the car is moving. The problem comes when I start it in the morning when it has been parked overnight, handbrake on and the lever in "Park." It then needs brute force to pull the lever out of "Park", even -

Octavia 4 Apr 2006 (Forum)
Thinking about the new Octavia Estate. We really should have some sort of automatic, so bearing in mind that the 2.0TDI is a bit on the expensive side, would the best bet be the 1.6FSI Tiptronic or the 1.9TDI DSG? We've done the sums and it appears that it'll take quite a few years to recoup -

I've just purchased a Vauxhall Astra 1.6 Mrk 3 (Automatic). I have just noticed today that there is an oil leak somewhere around the exhaust at the cylinder block. The temperature gauge also goes up quite quick. Has Anyone got any idea were it could be coming from? -
Scenic, CMax, or other? 28 Sep 2005 (Forum)
we have a 99 Scenic and are considering trading it in for a newer model. We would like an automatic, as the wife does a massive school run each day through London traffic. I quite fancy the 1.9 diesel Scenic, but of course, no auto option. The Cmax looks promising, I drove a TDi Focus & loved -
World's worst motorbike? 6 Jul 2005 (Forum)
to the Suzuki RE5, perhaps? Third place to the Honda 750 Automatic? I'll just retire to my flame-proof concrete bunker now. -

peugeot 405 td clutch adjuster 14 Jul 2004 (Forum)
Hello, I have a peugeot 405 td with no adjustment left on the cable. It has no adjuster so assume it is the later model with the automatic adjuster. Does the lack of free play suggest a worn out clutch or a problem with the adjuster? Where is the adjuster? It sounds like a tricky job whatever -
Nissan Micra timing retards 25 Jun 2004 (Forum)
My 1998 Nissan Micra, 1.0 engine, automatic, retards timing for about 20 degrees. It has been checked at a Nissan dealer, and two independent garages. The last one discovered that the ecu puts out spike waveforms when it is running normally. It then squares off the spikes for four waves -

Saab 900 discs and brakes. 11 Feb 2003 (Forum)
Evening all, I checked my discs and pads today, and thought they could probably do with replacing, as it's an automatic, and is heavy on pads anyway. So I rang the local Saab garage for a quote and they said £250.00 incl fitting. I then looked on Eurocarparts.co.uk, and found the Saab OE parts -
car novice 30 Nov 2002 (Forum)
I have an 1998 Ford Escort AUTOMATIC done 40,000 miles and I must admit it has so far given no major problems. Recently when I start it first time in the morning,it starts quickly but as soon as I try changing to 'Reverse' or 'Drive',it switches off. If I leave it to warm up for a few minutes -
Air-con 26 Jan 2002 (Forum)
Advice please on the best way to use the air-con system on modern cars. Honest John suggest use at all times? My friends are not convinced, claiming high fuel bills and loss of power. Any setting of the heating system to the screen on modern cars automatically turns the A/C on, so -
Scorpio surging 1 Apr 2001 (Forum)
I have a Ford Scorpio 2.0i K plate automatic that will sometimes hesitate when starting off but will then suddenly surge forward. The engine does not increase revs at first but then takes off and is difficult to stop. I have also experienced surging on a high speed motorway run. Also the cruise -
headroom 28 Jan 2001 (Forum)
Dear Honest John I am intending to buy a car for my 18 year old son who is 6 feet 4 inches tall but has a long body rather than long legs. He needs extra headroom rather than leg room. We want to get him an automatic rather than manual gearbox and are looking for a car with about a 1200cc engine -

My Volvo 850 SE estate has suffered over lockdown and the winter. It's needing new calipers, discs, pads etc.. around £1000. So I've decided to replace it. Which similar car, at under £2000, has the same or greater boot capacity. It must be ULEZ compliant, preferably petrol automatic
