  • Old Stock?? 31 May 2006 (Forum)
Bought a fuel filter and an oil filter recently;fuel filter was marked "Motorcraft" as usual but the oil filter was marked "FoMoCo";a trademark that I thought was long gone but the part was not for an old car.
  • 3 year old Matiz 29 Dec 2001 (Forum)
I have a 3 (and a bit) year old Daewoo Matiz with only 16,250 miles on the clock, according to the "Car-by-Car Breakdown" it will need a... 'Timing belt and GF50 tensioner pulley replacement at 40k miles or 4 years whichever comes first'. What is a GF50 Tensioner Pulley?
  • what first cars are young people buying these days 24 Jun 2015 (Forum)
cars, 10 yrs old, sub 100K miles, nothing really wrong with them when I look at them ( for a 10 yr old car) With all the youngsters passing their tests I thought these cars would sell quickly but they dont seem to. So if the kids are not buying these what are they buying? newer cars? different
  • Any car more than 10 years old - Can you insure for more than market value? 25 Oct 2017 (Forum)
'Bangernomics' make sense in many ways, but if you are driving around in a car whose market value is £500 or less, then a relatively slight knock will lead to it being written off by the insurance company. Is it possible to agree that you want to insure your old car for, say, £1500

Hi, so I was going to replace my old 09 ST-2 this summer but with current events it might be next year now, however I have been looking at various cars and have narrowed it down to. Audi A4-quattro 2.0l or possibly the V6 Diesel Jag XE 2.0 AWD BMW 3 series X Drive 330i
  • Old car: (Nissan Micra) 20k oil changes? 9 Mar 2005 (Forum)
N reg Nissan Micra (K11 type) mileage: 69k I used to change oil filter on this car every 10k or 12 months, usually at MOT time. But I have changed jobs and now drive about 22k per annum. Just for arguments sake, would extending the oil filter change period to 20k damage the engine on a car
  • ADVICE NEEDED: getting rid of old car 22 Apr 2024 (Forum)
Any advice on the below would be greatly appreciated! I want to get a new car and get rid of our old one, but the tax is due on 30th April and MOT in May. We can't have a gap with no car but equally don't want to spend money on the old car unnecessarily.  Current car is 2006

I own a year old 05 55 Astra 1.8 Design 5dr and would like to sell it as I haven't been offered enough in part exchange. I am a little concerned about advertising in Auto Trader etc because the car isn't that old and is worth about £9500 if I sell privately. I guess I'm just worried that some

  • Outrageous old car prices? 22 Jan 2010 (Forum)

  • Toyota Corolla Touring Sports - Used car prices after 3 years old? 29 Apr 2021 (Forum)
Hello all, hope you are all well, Is it true that used car prices drop steeply once a car gets to 3 years old? I've heard this said in the past, think its supposed to be that the price drops once a car has to have MOTs. Don't know if its just an urban myth or not? Reason
  • Identifying old car parts! 3 Mar 2009 (Forum)
I've got a box of fuel pumps in the garage from various old cars that were left over from a business. They're pretty much all marked up AC Delco exchange service but checking a few of the numbers they don't come up in google or on ac delco's own site. I am fairly certain most of them are for pre

  • Meaning of raising/lowering the spark on old cars 22 Jul 2013 (Forum)
I'm reading The Grapes of Wrath, and they talk about "raising" and "lowering" the spark. What does this mean? Is it talking about advancing and retarding the ignition timing? The book is set in the 1930s dust bowl, and the cars were old, so probably 1920s models. One car that's mentioned
  • Future cars for the kids. 13 Nov 2001 (Forum)
If our girls were old enough for a car I'd be thinking about something like a Nissan Micra or Citroen ZX D, perhaps around 1994. But they are only 4 and 6 now so the eldest will perhaps be looking for a car in 12 years time. If requirements stay broadly the same a 7 year old car then will be one
