  My '00 1.9L 115bhp PD TDI with 77,000 miles had a head gasket replacement last year. Afterwards it started to smoke (white/blue) heavily when idling - v. noticeable in traffic queues, cars behind would back off! There's strong 'sooty' smell but no loss of coolant or oil, performance is unaffected

  C'mon Vauxhall.. Why no engine coolant temperature gauge? Why no mention of this omission in your roadtest, HJ? Surely (IMO) a critical instrument? I would not consider a Corsa purely for this reason.
