  What's the law regarding what has to be on a legal licence plate? I need new ones and don't want one of those poncey italic fonts, just plain old legal lettering - I'm sure I've heard that to pass the MOT, the postcode of the car's original dealer must be in smaller lettering underneath

  I have just had the call - "Dad I can't get reverse gear". Apparently No2 daughter can select all forward gears and the car moves forward but reverse can not be selected, described as "It just goes into 6th". Any help appreciated.

  The engine warning light flashed on this morning on my less than a week old Fiesta. It only came on for a couple or three seconds and the car seems to drive OK. Its has done less than 500 miles so I am a bit concerned. Should I be worried or just keep going and see if it happens again thanks

  What is the BRs advice on car batteries. I have an 06 Focus with the original Ford battery. So out of warranty and coming up to 4 years old. My experience with Fords is that their batteries in the past don't last long, and I've usually had to replace everyone. Would you change it before it gives

  I need to replace the water pump as the old one is leaking, my car has the type with 4 bolts on the pulley but the Haynes manual is based on the older 3 bolt variety, so I'd like to know if this makes any difference ot the job? Also any general tips or warnings would be nice, thanks.

  on the old m62 today doing 70 mph in a fiat siecento 3rd lane no problem ,electric steering wooly as they are, when all of a sudden i lost all power,thinking cambelt gone out of fuel etc then realised my foot had come off the accelerator pedal as its only the size of half a crown anyone else ever

  Can a diesel engine have pre-ignition? On these cold mornings my engine makes a sound like an old petrol engine "pinking" when I accelerate. It lasts until the engine gets warm, maybe 3-4 miles. The car has done 50,000 trouble free miles, I hope there is no fuel pump problem as mentioned

  Help please,I have just purchased a 3 year old C-Max 6500 miles only,there is vibration bettween 50 to 60 mph under acceleration only,it is comes from the front of the car,it is not a balancing issue because I have had thoughly checked out. Thanks shula E320 Coupe

  The car is an old but much loved 205 cabrio fitted with the original Clarion radio/cassette player. New battery fitted and needed to enter the radio code. Entered 1114 instead of 1113 (small buttons big fingers...) and the radio froze. Owners manual says that it is now locked and has to be taken

  Hi I stone flew up and damaged my headlight on a 1999 626 , I have got a new headlight from a breakers but am having a devil of a job to take the old headlamp off. I have undone the 3 bolts attaching it to the chassis but there doesnt seem to be enough clearance between the bumper to get it free
