Volkswagen Passat (2011 - 2015)
Estate Sport 1.6 TDI Bluemotion Technology
Pretty impressive so far
I was going to buy a new VW Golf estate, and this Passat caught my eye at a VW dealership. It had only 9000 miles on the clock. When I did some comparisons I decided that the Passat was much better value. It had all the space and practicality of the Golf. It also included quite a lot of 'extras' which would have put the price of the Golf beyond reach price wise. There was also the problem of the money you lose on a new car.
The Passat came with the features I wanted - SatNav, a full size alloy spare wheel, DAB radio, lots of space, tinted rear windows, six speed gear box and roof rails. It also came with some other features that I have come to appreciate for example - tyre pressure monitors on each wheel for which you get a pressure read out on screen, auto hold and an electronic handbrake, self-sealing tyres, and electronic lumbar support for the drivers seat.
It is an extremely comfortable car, and it's a joy to drive. The 1.6 engine is powerful enough for my needs - it's quiet and the gearing allows relaxed motorway cruising.
So far I am very impressed. It's by far the best car I have owned. I am impressed with the build quality. Buying second-hand has some risks I guess but on this occasion I seem to have been able to buy a first class car at a considerable saving over the showroom price. Highly recommended.
