Overall a good car but some driver aids not helpful

I recently got a new VW Taigo from Vertu VW Skipton. I like the car, it is good to drive and it has a number of "driver aids". Some of these are very helpful, but not all.

Specifically I have had problems with the speed warning system since new as it is essentially flawed. It works by reading the roadside speed limit signs using an onboard camera and then alerts you with flashing and audible signals if you exceed the speed limit. Sounds good - but not so ! The problem is that the camera often fails to read the sign correctly for the prevailing speed limit. It also reads speed limit signs leading onto side roads with a lower limit.  The net result is regular incorrect warnings for excess speed, but also failure to read a lower limit correctly. The system can deactivated but resets whenever the engine is turned off and back on.

I contacted VW but essentially they didn't want to know. I'm really surprised that VW have installed such an unreliable system.
