How do I stop a hybrid getting a flat battery?

It has recently been said that a self charging hybrid car has to have regular use to keep the 12v battery in good condition. Is there a 'rule of thumb' minimum annual mileage needed for the owning of such a car?

Some hybrid owners have experienced issues with batteries going flat when the car has not been used for several days, so it is more a matter of avoiding this rather than achieving a specific mileage. Regular use, with some longer journeys of 30 minutes or more is the best way to keep the battery in good health, or you could consider using a trickle charger if the vehicle needs to be left for an extended period.
