Why are modern car interiors always black?
Why are virtually all new cars only offered with depressingly black upholstery? A year or so ago enquired about changing my 2008 3-Series BMW with oatmeal interior for a new one but could only have black interior. This was a deal breaker for me.

The fewer options a car has the cheaper it is to build, but also darker interiors tend to be more popular with buyers as they hide wear and stains much better than lighter colours. Lighter colour options for leather and material finishes are available on some cars but usually as an option.
