S 1.2 TSI (85ps) 5dr Hatchback

Living up to expectations gained from reviews.

We bought the car in the promotional weekend. Got excellent service from Citygate, watford. The car is exactly as we hoped. A delight to drive and ride in. Backseat far more roomy then the Peugeot 207SW we traded in. Performance surprisingly good and maybe better than the 1.6Diesel Peugeot. We have done c 600 miles so far (400 being urban) and averaged c 38 mpg which is short on the claims! It has improved with use and loosening up. Hopefully it will continue to do so.
Only niggle is that as the park pilot warning system was dealer rather than factory fitted, it only gives an audio warning. There is no visual display of where the obstacle is. And it is not possible to adjust pitch and volume of the arning. That is a shame. surely the extra electrics are not that difficult.
Too early to tell on maintenance and reliability. With a good range of fittings and engines, I would heartily recommend anyone looking ata car of this style considers the Golf.
