Toyota Auris (2007 - 2013)
T3 1.4 D-4D 5dr
Excellent workhorse most at home on motorway
The car was 8 years old with 56k miles on and now is nearly 13 years old with 111k miles on it. Aside from the air conditioning which wasn’t working when we bought the car (now fixed) it’s still going strong with no issues (I do not drive it in town). With a Diesel engine under the bonnet it’s a great motorway cruiser with 60mpg achievable if careful and 55mpg the norm. The 1.4 May put some people off but it’s pulls very well and is more than adequate for 95% of the time. The car rides very well soaking up bumps without wallowing in the bends. It doesn’t have sporty handling but that’s not what it was designed for. The steering and heat change are the same, not much fee but perfect for motorway work. You sit high on comfortable seats with good visibility, it’s fairly quiet, easy to drive and everything where you would expect. Everything feels as though it could lay a very long time - the doors shut with a thud and it feels very engineered. An excellent, reliable and cheap mile muncher
