Long distance tourer

The Auris has a 2litre chain cam engine. It has never really given me more than 49 mpg. But to be fair it is a great relaxing long distance tourer which cruises effortlesssly at 80+mph. The seats and are very comfortable and on the whole the cabin is a very re;axed place to be. I have had few problems in its 74,000 miles and have just replaced the water pump at £350. All the brake discs and pads were replaced at 65,000 miles at a cost of £350 by a local brake specialist as opposed to the Toyota Dealer quote of £650. The car has been regularly serviced by Toyota Dealer. This car does not handle particularly well and does not inspire fast driving on narrow B/country roads. Depreciation after 4 yrs is pretty awful as it is worth 60% less now than when I originally purchased it. I would have done a lot bettter buying a Golf or a Nissan Qaishqai?
