Suzuki SX4 S-Cross (2013 - 2021)
1.0 Sz-T Boosterjet Auto 5dr SUV
Excellent value for money
Addition to review - I have now had the car from new since January 2017 (approaching 7 years), it has been 100% reliable and no faults at all with the car. The 1.0L Auto is much more powerful that you would expect and the auto box is smooth and responsive. I would recommend the car to anyone. Road tax is only £35 a year and its cheap to insure and run. I can say with some certainty that short journeys around town are 37mpg, longer journeys around 48mpg, motorway driving steady 75mph is 47mpg. mixed around 43mpg. In April 2023 I have just placed an order for the new 1.5L full Hybid Ultra, having been very impressed with my current car. Delivery is expected in October.
I upgraded from the 1.6 Sz-t to the 1.0L Auto and its a much better car to drive.
the Auto box is really smooth and the car feels more powerful with the 1.0L engine than it did with the previous 1.6.
The specification includes SatNav, Dab radio, auto headlights and wipers, cruise control, auto dimming mirror, LED self leveling headlights, tinted rear glass, keyless ignition, power fold mirrors, Dual climate control air conditioning, Bluetooth connectivity for phone.
Its quite a spacious SUV and with discounts I paid £15,090 with metallic paint and rubber mats
Its good to drive and where else can you get a car of this size and specification for this kind of money.
I have had the car for 20 months and it has been really reliable and fun to drive. I would fully recommend getting the Auto box with the 1.0L engine. Going up hills at a constant speed, it will change down seamlessly, although I would not want to be shifting up and down through the gears all the time.
I have now had this car approaching 4 years from new, it has been 100% reliable and I am very pleased with the car. I would not recommend the 1.0L manual unless all your journeys were local as the auto box needs to change gear on motorways to keep at a constant 70mph, up some of the larger motorway gradients it even changes down 2 gears. With the Auto it is seamless and you only know as you see the revs increase with the gear changes, but with a Manual you would need to change gear making it more hassle.
The Auto box works really well with the stop start around town, press the brake pedal more firmly when you come to a stop and the engine stops, press it gently to stop and the engine remains running, it gives you plenty of control for times when you know the lights are about to change. All the extra touches on the SZ-T make it a much better bet than the basic version SZ4 for not a lot more money, you get auto wipers and lights, LED headlights, auto dimming mirror, front and rear parking sensors, reversing camera, cruise control, ect. very well specified for the money. I keep thinking about changing my car as its approaching 4 years, but I really cannot justify spending a lot of money on a new car when this car performs so well.
