Subaru XV (2012 - 2018)
2.0i SE Nav 5dr
Disappointment
We bought our XV with the intention of keeping it many years but could not live with it after a year. We previously had an old style Forester which we found a fantastic car and kept for 12 years. The XV hasn't been unreliable but we found the 2.0 litre engine to be underpowered. It makes a lot of noise but nothing much happens especially once you go above 4th gear. The build quality is poor and it feels very tinny. The seat quality is extremely poor and very jarring on your back on anything other than a perfect surface. Lots of wind noise too which makes motorway driving wearing. The stereo is r****** and has to be turned up to near max volume to drown out the road noise. Built to a price but very expensive for what it is. I wouldn't recommend them although do not know if the diesel would be any better. Oh and the biggest bugbear is the gearbox. Unbelievably notchy and your passengers can even hear you changing gear. The Suburu mechanic advises there is nothing wrong and it is normal. How Subaru could put out such a shocking car I don't know. It isn't a patch on their older cars. We will never buy Subaru again.
