Overall reliability

Brilliant all rounder

This is my third Outback and second petrol version. It is a much better car than many reviews suggest. Total reliability, excellent safety features (you pay thousands extra for Eyesight equivalent on Volvos) and spacious feel. Does over 40mpg if driven at 70 on the motorway. Low thirties ion mixed driving. The 8 way electrically adjustable driver seat with memory is great, though could be a tad longer to give thigh support. Drives brilliantly on snow and ice. I’m ok with the CVT gearbox. More suited to American tastes but where in the UK can you drive spontaneously now and there is a sports mode which tightens everything up. I get it serviced by independent mechanic, no problem.
